Careers / Senior Fullstack Engineer
Senior Fullstack Engineer
Summary Our client is standing up a brand-new shared native app component platform for its North America team, and you'd own the backend backbone of it. This role is backend-heavy: you'll build the data proxies, unified data sources, caching, and auth/security layer the platform depends on, working closely with the client's engineering team in Austria. Frontend comfort is a real plus here, not the main event — some custom CMS work is also expected. Requirements (Must-Haves) * Excellent English communication skills — you'll interact directly with clients and cross-functional teams, including close day-to-day collaboration with an Austria-based engineering team * 8+ years of professional software development experience, with proven depth on the backend * Advanced proficiency in Node.js and NestJS for production backend services * Real, hands-on experience with caching strategies, authentication/authorization, and application security * Experience building data proxy layers or unifying multiple/disparate data sources into a single consistent API * Solid experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) — data modeling and query optimization * Hands-on AWS experience: S3, EC2, ECS, RDS, Route53, CloudWatch, Lambda * Experience with GitHub Actions and CI/CD pipeline management * Comfortable being one of the first engineers on a brand-new platform team, where architecture, conventions, and process aren't fully defined yet Requirements (Nice-to-Haves) * Frontend comfort with React and Next.js — you won't be leading frontend work, but you can pick it up when needed *Experience with a headless or custom CMS (Contentful, Strapi, Sanity, or similar) — some custom CMS work is expected in this role * Microservices architecture experience * Docker and containerization experience * GraphQL experience * Experience working with distributed, cross-border engineering teams across time zones * Infrastructure as Code experience (Terraform, CloudFormation) * Testing framework familiarity (Jest, Mocha, Cypress) * Agile/Scrum experience in a fast-moving, still-forming team Bonus Points *Experience in a "platform incubation" or 0-to-1 internal tooling context — building something from scratch that later spins out into its own team *Prior consulting or agency background, comfortable working as an embedded contractor inside a client's internal team * Contributions to open-source projects
