Android Engineer

Summary Our client is standing up a brand-new shared native app component platform for its North America team, and you'd be one of the first engineers on it. You'll design and build reusable Android components and internal SDKs that other app teams across the org will depend on — not just ship one-off features. This is a ground-floor seat on a team still being defined, incubating inside the client's internal studio before it spins out as its own business unit. Requirements (Must-Haves) * Excellent English communication skills — you'll interact directly with clients and cross-functional teams, explaining technical tradeoffs to non-engineers * 6+ years of professional native Android development * Proven experience **building and owning** a shared UI component library, design system, or internal SDK consumed by multiple apps or teams * Strong Kotlin and native Android architecture skills (multi-module Gradle setups, dependency injection with Hilt/Dagger, versioned internal libraries) * Hands-on experience distributing internal libraries via a Maven/Gradle package registry or similar tooling * Proficiency with RESTful API integration and cross-platform data contracts * Comfortable being one of the first engineers on a brand-new platform team, where architecture, conventions, and process aren't fully defined yet Requirements (Nice-to-Haves) * Experience rolling out or contributing to a design system across multiple product squads *Jetpack Compose experience, especially building shared/reusable Compose component sets * Experience working with distributed, cross-border engineering teams * CI/CD pipeline experience (Jenkins, GitHub Actions) for multi-app library distribution * Agile/Scrum experience in a fast-moving, still-forming team Bonus Points *Experience in a "platform incubation" or 0-to-1 internal tooling context — building something from scratch that later spins out into its own team * Comfortable presenting/documenting technical decisions to help other teams adopt shared components *Prior consulting or agency background, comfortable working as an embedded contractor inside a client's internal team
